FAQ
What is Orpheus' list? It's a fantastic service that allows people to post and search performances and events such as shows, concerts, workshops, dances, classes, plays, films, gallery exhibitions, and much more for free! Artists, unedited? At this site the artists, unedited, post their own event listings. Is there a cost to post an event? Posting events is free; all you need to do is open an Account (also free) and you're ready to go. What are the benefits of an Account? The Account allows you to keep lists of emails in the system and post events to the public. The posts can be sent or re-sent to the addresses on the lists at any time. Posts are searchable by anyone on the web and can be edited, copied, or deleted at any moment but your email lists with your addresses are not accessible to anyone but you, see below. Will anyone else see or have access to the emails in my lists? No, they will be kept secret. That is why you have to create an account with a password to protect them. How is this different from sending emails directly from my email? In addition to sending the activity posts to addresses on your list, your announcements are searchable and visible to anyone on the web. Many more people are able to see them. Do I have to keep a list of emails in the system to be able to post? No, it's optional. You can post without creating a list of emails. But people not on my list still have to go to the site and search to find my posts, right? Not every time: site visitors can subscribe to keywords and artists. People you never met can ask that they be added to your email list and will receive updates every time you post something. People can also subscribe to a keyword (such as "jazz" for example) and receive regular emails with all the "jazz" posts in their area. Or they may like a specific artist and subscribe to receive all posts from that artist. What if I need to have more than one list of emails for different purposes? You can save more than one list of emails in the system and choose which ones you want to use for a particular event. How does the search work? People use the search engine to search for posts using the keywords you type when you enter the event. What if some people use keywords that don't have anything to do with the real event just to gain visibility? Oops... people may vote that post out. If they keep doing it post after post that account will eventually get blocked. Do I really need to fill out all those fields when posting an event? It's your choice, but the more information you give, the easier it is for people to find it. Who can see the events I post? Your events are visible to anyone on the web. What if my event belongs to more than one category, say music and dance, at the same time? Choose one of them to be the main category and use the other one as a keyword so people can find it either way. * * * |
